WHAT IS SHIBARI
Shibari is the Japanese art of rope bondage, with origins that trace back centuries. It was first developed by the Samurai as a method of restraint, where distinct ties were used to mark crimes
Over time it has evolved into a deeply intentional practice of connection and reverence. No longer about control for its own sake. When practiced with skill and care, the ropes invite you into a shared experience of surrender and trust. I was introduced to Shibari over a decade ago.
I have since spent years studying with master practitioners in Japan and around the world, refining a practice that is both technically precise and deeply intuitive.
Rope, in my world, becomes a pathway to embodiment and trust. I create bespoke Shibari ceremonies designed for deep release, and guide couples in using this practice to deepen intimacy, presence and relational attunement.
